Easy Access And Organization With An HD Media Player

On June 12 2009 most TV signals switched to digital broadcasts. Analog broadcasts are one signal whereas digital signals are combined. This creates better resolution and higher clarity. It also paves the way for High Definition broadcasts because more than one signal can be broadcast simultaneously.

New televisions are digital and most are high definition. All of computer media files are digital and most movies and videos are available in high definition as well. With the rising price of cable and the availability of computers in most homes, people are looking for a way to consolidate their media.

It is also possible to save on cable bills by watching TV and movies from computers. The only problem is that it is much more comfortable to watch movies in the living room on a large screen. Also it is much more enjoyable to share family photos and videos on the TV rather than crowding around the computer in the den.

HD media players create a solution for consolidating media and comfortable viewing options. With an HD media player users can take content from their PCs and play it on their television. Most HD media players come with a hard drive that can upload media from a PC.

Some have cables to connect to the PC and many use wireless. Some HD media players are streaming network media players. Which means that they can connect to PCs or networks and automatically browse and play all media files. Including, movies, music files, photos, and even browse You Tube, and other media options for streaming music and video.

Most of these devices come with standard codecs installed so users will not have to transcode any of the files. Just connect to the network or PC and browse and play. If users don’t want to mess with a network connection or would like media on the go, there are also portable USB media players. These will connect to a PC with a USB port to download the media people want to play. Then the user connects the portable USB media player to any television, to watch the movies and videos.

It can be confusing choosing the best HD media player. But some things to keep in mind are ease of use and price. Price should be easy because the average price tag keeps going down while features and usability are increasing.  Ease of use is an important factor. If one just wants to transfer files from a computer to a television, a hard drive HD media player option will be fine.

If portability is a factor then some of the USB HD media player options are worth taking a look at. With these files can be downloaded from the computer using the USB port. The files can then be plugged into a television in another room or another house. These are great for taking movies on the go.

The latest players offer streaming network media. A popular choice for streaming network media is the Western Digital WD TV Live Network-ready HD Media Player. This player gives users Full-HD 1080p video playback. It can be connected via Ethernet port or wireless. It can browse and find all of the files in your network. It also comes with 2 USB ports for unlimited storage capacity. Just plug in additional storage devices and the capacity will be increased. The true beauty of this device is the ease of set up and use. It comes with all of the standard codecs so you can play any format without having to hassle with software uploads.

It also plays streaming audio and video from any device on a network. It will recognize most devices that plug into the USB port, such as digital cameras and camcorders. Files can be browsed, viewed, organized, and deleted through the device as well. Files can also be copied between USB drives. One caveat is that a my passport hard drive or other USB storage device is required. The WD TV live does not actually come with it’s own storage capacity.

With these new devices it is possible to store, organize, and use all types of media. When choosing an HD media player, built in codecs, ease of use, and network streaming are important to look at.
